Georgetown Juneteenth 2026 Features Speaker Dr. Loren Alves
Georgetown Juneteenth Celebration to Feature Community Leader Dr. Loren Alves as Special Guest Speaker
GEORGETOWN, Texas — As communities across the nation prepare to commemorate Juneteenth, Georgetown residents will have the opportunity to hear from a distinguished local leader whose life has been defined by service, leadership, and dedication to others. Dr. Loren Alves, a retired dentist, military veteran, and respected community advocate, will be featured as a special speaker during Georgetown's 2026 Juneteenth observance.
Hosted by the Georgetown Cultural Citizen Memorial Association (GCCMA), the event will take place on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Georgetown Community Center, located at 445 E. Morrow Street. Organizers say Dr. Alves was selected because his personal and professional journey reflects many of the values celebrated during Juneteenth: perseverance, service, leadership, and community empowerment.
For more than three decades, Dr. Alves dedicated his career to providing dental care while simultaneously serving as a mentor and role model throughout the Georgetown area. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he is recognized for his military service and ongoing commitment to strengthening the community through education, mentorship, and civic engagement.
"Juneteenth is about more than remembering history," event organizers noted. "It is also about honoring those who continue to build stronger communities through leadership and service. Dr. Alves exemplifies those ideals."
Throughout his career, Dr. Alves has encouraged younger generations to pursue excellence while remaining committed to serving others. His message aligns with one of the event's central themes: preserving the lessons of the past while inspiring future generations to lead with purpose and integrity.
A quote often associated with Dr. Alves captures that philosophy:
"Service is the rent we pay for living. It is the very purpose of life, and not something you do in your spare time."
Organizers believe his remarks will offer attendees valuable insight into the importance of civic responsibility, mentorship, and community involvement. His story serves as an example of how individual commitment can create lasting positive change.
The Juneteenth speaker program is expected to attract residents from across Georgetown and surrounding communities. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the historical significance of Juneteenth while hearing firsthand perspectives on leadership, service, and community building.
This year's celebration embraces the theme "Reflect. Respect. Rise."—a call to honor the sacrifices and achievements of those who came before while continuing the work of creating opportunities for future generations. The event will encourage participants to reflect on the journey toward freedom, respect the contributions of community leaders, and rise together in pursuit of a more united future.
As Georgetown continues its annual Juneteenth traditions, organizers hope the inclusion of respected local voices like Dr. Alves will help deepen the celebration's impact. By sharing stories of dedication, perseverance, and service, the event aims to inspire meaningful conversations and strengthen community connections.
Residents are encouraged to attend and participate in this special gathering that celebrates both the historical significance of Juneteenth and the individuals whose leadership continues to make a difference today.
